AN INNOCENT PORTRAIT

I developed my Floating Features style of portrait painting to favor the imagination of the viewer, rather than provide a tightly detailed likeness that could, honestly, just as easily be taken with a camera or phone. I believe art should inspire and tease, rather than just reproduce an image. Using white as the dominant spatial color, the soft features “float” on the canvas and engage the viewer’s imagination to “complete” the portrait. Quite often, clients tell me they cry and laugh upon seeing the final portrait, a result of engaging the creative side of the mind to view the image, cue memories, and inspire an emotional response. Your original portrait is on an 8 x 10 stretched canvas. We will coordinate to email or upload the best reference photos. Canvas and Paper Giclee Prints are available for you to share your portrait with family members. Canvas Prints are wrapped on an 8 x 10 stretcher and the Paper Prints are trimmed to size for framing under glass. The additional Prints require photographing the original and then producing the Prints. I add a matte varnish to seal and protect the Prints. Hand-Painted Embellishments are available to enhance certain areas of the prints.
